From Proto-Anatolian *páHʷr̥ (fire), and this form Proto-Indo-European *péh₂wr̥ (fire). Cognates include Luwian 𒉺𒀀𒄷𒌋𒌨, Ancient Greek πῦρ (pûr), Old Armenian հուր (hur), Tocharian B puwar, Old Prussian panno, Old English fȳr (English fire).
