Noun
pedophilia (countable and uncountable, plural pedophilias)
- Sexual feelings or desires (sexual attraction) directed by adults and late adolescents towards children; particularly, in psychiatry, a paraphilia consisting of a primary adult sexual attraction to prepubescent children. [from 20th c.]
- 2004, Ronald J. Comer, Fundamentals of abnormal psychology, page 341:

- 2009, Ann Kring, Sheri Johnson, Gerald C. Davison, Abnormal Psychology:
- Sometimes a man with pedophilia is content to stroke the child's hair, but he may also manipulate the child's genitalia, [...]
- 2004, Ronald J. Comer, Fundamentals of abnormal psychology, page 341:

- 1998, Andrew L. Kaufman, Cardozo (ISBN 0674096452), page 25:
- Fifteen months later, a committee of the congregation found that he had sexually abused several boys within the congregation. […] The fact that Alger committed pedophilia at the age of thirty-four casts a shadow over his subsequent yearning for relationships with boys and young men, but there is no evidence of any later misconduct.

Usage note
- The template Template:rfc-sense does not use the parameter(s):
lang=en
Please see Module:checkparams for help with this warning.(Can we clean up(+) this sense?)Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "{{{1}}}" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. Psychologists recommend against using the term pedophilia to denote sexual activities with prepubescent children, because not all people with a sexual preference for prepubescent children (i.e., pedophilia) commit such acts, and child molesters often lack a strong sexual interest in prepubescent children. Also the common use of the term pedophilia, to mean any adult who has sex with any minor (i.e., under 18), is not correct. Pedophilia specifically refers to attraction to prepubescents, not to all minors. See Wikipedia for more information.
