lik guyad: bâ šomâ man baste-am, bi-šomâ man tâ abad peyvaste-am.
But [the fountain] says: with you, I am shut off; without you, I continue [to flow] until eternity.

Usage notes

While the verb is understood throughout the modern Persophone world, it is most common in Iran. Speakers from Afghanistan tend to use the derived compound verb بند کردن (band kardan), especially in colloquial speech. For the sense of "to close", Tajikis prefer пӯшидан (püšidan), equivalent to Iranian پوشیدن (pušidan, to cover).
