Etymology
Non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese 時 (“time, season; hour”, SV: thì, thời). Doublet of thời and thì. Compare also Central Vietnamese chừ. See also Chinese 時/时 (shí), Japanese 時 (ji) and Korean 시 (si) which have similar dual functions for both time and duration.
