Vietnamese

Etymology

Non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese (south, SV: nam), perhaps based on the Quảng Nam accent (the province is known locally as Quảng Nôm). Like nam/Nam, Nôm has been used to refer to Vietnam as opposed to Bắc (North) which is China.
