Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary! We notice that you're making changes anonymously. Although this is perfectly all right, we'd like to encourage you to take the time to create an account and sign in to it when editing – it's free and easy. A number of good reasons to do so are listed at Wiktionary:Why create an account?.

Please note that we are not Wikipedia. If you have edited there, it won't be very difficult for you to find your way here, but there are a number of differences. For example, Wiktionary is case-sensitive: Kind (German) is not the same as kind (English, Danish, Dutch etc.) Also note that Wiktionary never uses parenthetic disambiguation, so where Wikipedia might have separate articles on Mercury (planet), Mercury (element), and Mercury (mythology), Wiktionary will only have one entry on Mercury which addresses proper noun uses, and an entry on mercury which addresses regular noun uses.

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Questionable entries will be listed for verification, and, if they fail that process, will be deleted. Also, keep in mind our copyright policies: don't copy material from copyrighted sources here. Such additions will be deleted on sight. Submissions from IP addresses unfortunately are looked at more closely, so please take a minute to create an account.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question in the appropriate discussion room or ask me on my talk page.

Personal attacks and use of Tagalog[edit]

Please take a look at Wiktionary:Civility and Wiktionary:No personal attacks. While they are not officially a policy here in Wiktionary, it is a code of conduct in all activity here in Wiktionary, and we do not tolerate any offensive comments against other editors. If you think you are correct about how a word is defined, it is bad to attack the creator personally. I just saw you make personal attacks when you posted at Wiktionary:Requests for verification/Non-English#dilawan and a diff at asam. Calling other editors "ignorant", "kapal ng face", "bakla", and other negative words can be grounds for blocking. And also, don't forget that this is the English Wiktionary, and you are using some Tagalog here. There is also a Tagalog Wiktionary where you may work on many entries. Thanks. -TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 00:50, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with your edits[edit]

I see some problems regarding your edits, many of them that must be addressed:

  • We do not use diacritics in Tagalog entries, except the Ñ in proper nouns. Forms with diacritics are to be used in headwords, and not the entry.
  • When creating entries for Tagalog verb or noun roots, label it as a root word, and add known derivations. Remember that many Tagalog words are formed by adding suffixes.
  • There are also misspellings in entries you created, such as gabe, which is spelled gabi, and kabaganbagan, which must be kabagabagan. I nominated the latter for deletion because it is a misspelling. I see that you are not competent enough on Tagalog, that I need to fix your Tagalog edits.
  • Edit summaries must be a short comment about your edit. I see personal attacks in one comment, like what you did in asam. Attacking other editors, even in edit summaries can be grounds for blocking. Rember also that we do not sign edit summaries.
  • When replying in discussions, do not forget to sign with a hyphen and four tildes (-~~~~). Also, use proper capitalization in sentences. I see that you tend to write your replies in small caps and without signatures.
  • As I told you before, political statements and personal insults are not tolerated, just like what you did on the RFV regarding dilawan and your changeset comment on asam. Remember to resolve issues politely, and personal attacks (just like calling me a dilawan) can be grounds for blocking. Attack the problem, not the person.

Your definitions[edit]

See Wiktionary:Copyright. I see you are defining Tagalog entries using those used in the Tagalog Pinoy Dictionary, and we do not permit copying from other dictionaries, unless it is public domain or freely licensed. If you are not competent in Tagalog, please do not edit them. We take copyright violations seriously, and violators will be blocked immediately. -TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 13:52, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Metaknowledge, really? I get blocked for creating entries using the Tagalog Pinoy Dictionary as a reference. It's a reference, I did not copy the dictionary nor do I need define words using the Tagalog Pinoy Dictionary. Try searching Tagalog Pinoy Dictionary on Wiktionary and see how many results you'd get. https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?search=Tagalog+pinoy+dictionary&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go Why not delete ayaw, alahero, and kuwaderno if its a copyright violation? Those entries use the said dictionary. The double standard. And I get blocked for shaming @TagaSanPedroAko. He deserves it and I'm not sorry nor ashamed. Why is he removing my RFV tags? Those words have wrong definitions thus the RFV. See kapal ng mukha, it's supposed be shamelessness, that's why I tagged so others can verify and fix it. Why not ask other Tagalog Wiktionarians, @Rgt2002, @Mar vin kaiser, if I'm wrong with my suggested definitions. If I were as makapal ang mukha as TagaSanPedroAko, I'd change it myself. TagaSanPedroAko is clearly targeting me for shaming him because I had his edits, made up definitions, fixed on entries like dilawan and sipsip. All this time, he thought he could get away with false definitions of Tagalog words. Now he's removing my entries. e.g. gabe, when clearly that word exist. Wiktionary:Criteria for inclusion, remember? And, I get called incompetent. LOL Despite my short tenure, I've never been wrong, nor made up, defintions of words here. Why not ask @Lvovmauro and @Stephen G. Brown, they're the ones who fixed TagaSanPedroAko'S work. A pity TagaSanPedroAko has to counter RFV my work because he cannot verify himself. TagaSanPedroAko is clearly the incompetent one. He/she/it is the one making made up defintions, for what purpose? For the first creation credit? Does he want Tagalog entries all to himself? Who's the native speaker? I with the correct definition and understanding of the said Tagalog words or him who\s making up wrong definitions? TagaSanPedroAko sucks both at Tagalog and English. 180.190.185.125 09:57, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you check yourself if you copy from that dictionary? I see it okay to use TPD as a reference when verifying definitions, but to create new entries or redefine entries using TPD can constitute a copyright violation, that is taken seriously. And also, don't you know attacking me many times, calling me names and other insults like you know better than a native speaker? If you acted better, I wouldn't have asked User:Metaknowledge for a block, but I have my last question to you: are you a native speaker of Tagalog, or not? And at last, stop that rant-filled drama against me and other Tagalog Wiktionarians (e.g. User:Mar vin kaiser), because you think you are better than all of us. -TagaSanPedroAko), (talk) 13:03, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
