asunto
Finnish
Etymology
Noun
asunto
Usage notes
Usually called "apartments (UK: flats) and other homes" or simply "homes" in English, including the media, except in official use. In official use, the term housing unit or dwelling unit (and their abbreviation unit) is more common. The terms residence, abode, dwelling, habitation, and domicile are rare, formal, or even misleading. The common translation of, for example, "250 asuntoa" as "250 dwellings" is usually misunderstood to mean 250 separate buildings.
