Cognate to Low German groff, Dutch grof, Serbo-Croatian grȍb and groblje (“grave”), German Grab (“grave”) and graben (“to dig”), (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Czech and (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Slovak hrob (“grave”). Related to English gruff.
