From Middle English refunden, refounden, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old French refondre, refonder, refunder (to restore; pay back), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin refundere; prefix re- (re-) + fundere (to pour): compare French refondre, refonder.
