Etymology[edit]
From Old East Slavic мꙑшь (myšĭ), from Proto-Slavic *myšь (“mouse”), from Proto-Balto-Slavic *mū́ˀšis, from Proto-Indo-European *múh₂s. The computing term is a semantic loan from English mouse.
