From Middle Persian [script needed] (ʾywk' /ēwak/) (Manichaean Middle Persian [script needed] (yk)), from Proto-Iranian *Háywa-ka-, derivative of Proto-Iranian *Háywah, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Háywas. Cognate with Bactrian ιωγο (iōgo).
