[edit]From Proto-Tai *bakᴰ (“to rest”). Cognate with Lao ພັກ (phak), Lü ᦗᧅ (pak) or ᦘᧅ (phak), Zhuang baeg (“to be tired; to gasp”). Compare Khmer ភ័ក (phĕək) and Old Chinese 泊 (OC *baːɡ).
