Etymology[edit]

The scepter of the Roman queen of the gods, Juno, surmounted by a star. The scepter took various forms in the 19th century, some rather elaborate, but soon the original printer's hack of an asterisk * over an inverted dagger was settled on for typographic convenience.

Symbol[edit]

  1. (astronomy, astrology) The asteroid 3 Juno.
