German

A vulgar hand gesture for this word (no longer universally understood)

Etymology

From Middle High German ficken (to rub, solidify, strengthen), perhaps ultimately onomatopoeic, or from Proto-Indo-European *pewǵ- (to stick, sting, stab). The interjectional use is probably a semantic loan from English fuck.
