English

A lasso with a white honda (sense 2)

Etymology

Probably from Spanish honda, fonda (sling), from Latin funda (hand-sling); or from Spanish hondón (eye of a needle), from hondo (bottom; deep, profound) (from Latin fundus (bottom, lowest part), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰudʰ-(m)n-o, from *bʰudʰmḗn (bottom)) + -ón (suffix indicating a similar (usually larger) object).
