mulceō (present infinitive mulcēre, perfect active mulsī, supine mulsum); second conjugation

  1. I stroke, graze, touch or move lightly or gently.
  2. I make sweet or pleasant.
  3. (figuratively) I soothe, soften, appease; caress, charm, flatter, delight; alleviate, relieve, mitigate.


Note that there is the rare form mulctum for the supine mulsum.
