Usage notes
[edit]- Realizar is a false friend and generally does not mean "to realize" in the sense of "to come to comprehend" or "to suddenly understand". (Such usage can occasionally be found in some countries of Central America, likely due to the influence of English in these regions, but the Royal Spanish Academy considers it nonstandard.) A more accurate translation of the verb "to realize" in that sense is darse cuenta.
