Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-Aryan *manuṣyás, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *manušyás, from Proto-Indo-European *mon- (“man”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬨𐬀𐬥𐬎𐬱 (manuš). Related to मनु (mánu).
