Schuessler (2007) proposed an Austroasiatic origin by comparing (OC tə̂) to Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "mkh-okm" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. (whence Khmer ម្តាយ (mtaay, mother)).

This is the same word as "the lowest kind of servant" (Zuo)
