Usage notes
[edit]In mainland China, 華僑 is usually used specifically to refer to Chinese citizens living abroad, while 華人/华人 (Huárén) is used to refer other countries' citizens of Chinese descent, but the two terms are often used interchangeably in overseas Chinese communities.
