Etymology[edit]
From 陰陽 (onmyō, onnyō, on'yō, in'yō, “yin-yang”) + 道 (“way”).
/omujaudau/ → /oNmjaudau/ → /oNmjɔːdɔː/ → /oNmjoːdoː/ [ommjoːdoː]
The yō reading for 陽 changes to nyō as an instance of renjō (連声). The yō reading for 陽 changes to myō as an instance of renjō (連声).
