Finnish[edit]

(index ak)

Etymology[edit]

Unclear. Cognate to Karelian, Votic and Ingrian akka, and Veps akk. The Samic word represented by Northern Sami áhkku is possibly an old loan from Finnish, explaining the irregular correspondence of -a- to -á-.
