[edit]Borrowed from a South Slavic language, e.g. Serbo-Croatian gat, or from Slovak hať. Ultimately, from Proto-Slavic *gatь (“dike”).[1][2][3]

- (sports, colloquial) hurdling (a track and field running event where the runners have to jump over a number of hurdles)
