Etymology
Noun
kaja
Estonian
Etymology
Etymology unclear. Probably a deverbal from kajama (“to echo”), from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "fiu-fin-pro" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E.. Cognate with Veps kajata (“to echo”) and Northern Sami gádja (“echo”). Possibly from kaikuma, compare Finnish kaikua and kaiku; possibly vice versa (i.e. kaikuma derived from kaja or kajama).
Pronunciation

- A man coughed. The echo breezed through the dark church, rose under the arches and died.
