Etymology[edit]
From Latin sexāgēnārius (“containing 60”) + -an (“forming adjectives and representative nouns”), either directly or via French sexagénaire, from Latin sexāgēnī (“60 each”) + -ārius (“-ary”), from sexāgintā (“six tens, 60”).
