From Middle English sorel, from Old French sorel, surele (“sorrel”), from Old French sur (“sour”), of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 95: Parameter 1 should be a valid language code; the value "gem" is not valid. See WT:LOL. origin, ultimately from Proto-Germanic *sūraz (“sour”); equivalent to sour + -el (diminutive suffix).
