[edit]From Proto-Finnic *viha, from earlier *wiša, from an Indo-Iranian language (cf. Proto-Indo-Iranian *dwiša). Cognates within Uralic include Estonian viha, Northern Sami vašši, Udmurt вож (vož, “hate”) and Komi-Zyrian веж (vež, “envy”).
