[edit] Pronunciation

[edit] Syllable

(Hepburn romanization ru)

  1. The hiragana syllable  (ru), whose equivalent in katakana is  (ru). It is the forty-first syllable of the gojūon order, and its position in gojūon tables is (RA-gyō, U-dan; “row RA, section U”).

[edit] Usage notes

  • In some cases the suffix 〜る is used as a general method to form verbs (as a 五段活用 (godan katsuyō, consonant stem conjugation, う-type verb)), as in サボる (saboru), but this is much less productive than 〜する (-suru, to do).
