Ancient Greek

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *ḱl̥h₂mos, zero-grade variant of *ḱolh₂mos. Cognates include Latin culmus, Russian соло́ма (solóma), Old Norse halmr and Old English healm (English haulm).
