  • The personal pronoun Вие and its forms Вас and Ви are comparable to French vous, German Sie, and are used not only in the informal plural sense, but also as the formal singular and plural, in which case they are always capitalised. The formal Вие is appropriate with strangers, business contacts, and all but one's friends. (The informal ти should only be used with close family and friends).

  • The personal pronoun Вие is comparable to Italian Lei, German Sie, and is used when one wants to express politeness, usually when talking to an older person, or when one wants to show respect. Younger people for most occasions, use the informal ти, but this might seem a bit offensive to older people that do know know the speaker.

Even though when spoken Вие is identical to вие - the plural informal pronoun, still when written Вие should be capitalized to show politeness or respect.
