[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀪𑀽𑀭 (*bhūra) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from Sanskrit *भ्रूर (*bhrūra), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰruHrás, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰruH-ró-s, from the root *bʰerH-. Cognate with Punjabi بھورا (bhūrā), Gujarati ભૂરું (bhūrũ), Marathi भुरे (bhure),[1] Classical Persian بور (bōr, būr, “brown, blonde”), Ossetian бур (bur, “yellow”), Northern Kurdish bor (“grey”), Yidgha وور (vūr, “pale red”) and Baluchi بور (bōr, “bay horse”).
