Etymology

From Lua error in Module:parameters at line 95: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "psu" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF., from Sanskrit मूल (mūla). Cognate with Gujarati મૂળ (mūḷ) and Bengali মূল (mul).

Possibly from a Proto-Dravidian word corresponding with modern Tamil முளா (muḷā) or முள்ளங்கி (muḷḷaṅki), although the direction of borrowing is unclear. Also compared to Ancient Greek μῶλυ (môlu).
