Etymology
[edit]Compound of 無理 (muri, “unreasonable”) + 強い (shii, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 強いる (shiiru, “to force, to compel”)). The shii changes to jii as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
