Etymology
From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Medieval Latin amalgama (“mercury alloy”), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Arabic اَلْمَلْغَم (al-malḡam, “emollient poultice or unguent for sores”)[1] from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek μάλαγμα (málagma, “gold”), from μαλάσσω (malássō, “to soften”), from μαλακός (malakós, “soft”). For the verb, compare French amalgamer.
