Ironical meaning[edit]

That phrase may have an ironical meaning sometimes. For example:

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. J.K. Rowling

Is it worth mentioning? Dart evader 11:59, 25 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think so. It's been in British use for many years (at least 50). Will do it. Enginear 11:36, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Děkuji pěkně" is not usual in modern Czech. Better way how to express is "děkuji mnohokrát" (formal variant) or "mockrát děkuji" (informal). "Děkuji pěkně" is more used in ironic meaning, as sarcastic way how to refuse some inconvenient offer.

thank you so much[edit]

thank you + so much

thank you very much (the literal sense)[edit]

thank you + very much

thank you so very much[edit]

thank you + so + very much

There's a lot/a bunch/a ton/a million/loads/heaps/much/so much/very much/so very much more, but let's start with these. Chuck Entz (talk) 07:54, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Strong keep for thank you very much — we need it to host translations! I abstain re the others, as I have no problem with deleting them but see no reason to do so. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 19:43, 26 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Keep thank you very much. Redirect thank you so much. I think so very much is an unusual construction, and I’d like to know native speakers’ judgement. — TAKASUGI Shinji (talk) 03:47, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Not very unusual, just emphatic: "I love/hate him so very much!" Equinox 10:38, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Delete this one, BTW, since it seems particularly egregiously SoP. Don't care about the other two: I suppose they are good for phrasebook or something. Equinox 21:55, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
If anyone cared enough about having a phrasebook to get some kind of policies or guidelines based on our experience to date with such entries, then we might me said to have a phrasebook. What we actually have is failure, along the lines of having a Shorthand L3/4 header. DCDuring TALK 01:18, 27 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

No consensus as to thank you very much; the other two are hard-redirected to it. bd2412 T 19:26, 29 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
