Borrowed from French angelot (small angel).

  1. A French gold coin from the reign of Louis XI, bearing the image of Saint Michael
  2. a coin minted in Paris by the English, during the reign of Henry VI.
  3. A sort of small, rich cheese made in Normandy, especially Pont-l'Évêque cheese but formerly applied to other cheeses.
  4. (music) An old musical instrument similar to the lute.
