[edit]From Proto-Finnic *juttu (compare Estonian jutt), from Proto-Uralic *jupta- (“to speak, to tell”) + -u (compare Erzya ёвтамс (jovtams, “to say, to tell a story”), Nganasan дебтудя (djebtudja)).[1]
