(compare Occitan seguir), from Vulgar Latin *sequīre (compare Spanish seguir, French suivre), remodeled from Latin sequī, present infinitive of sequor, from Proto-Italic *sekʷōr, from Proto-Indo-European *sekʷ- (to follow).
