- virke means only the whole sentence or set of clauses ending with a period, exclamation point or question mark. Thus, "Minä menen kouluun, vaikka en jaksaisi." is a virke, while "Minä menen kouluun" is a lause (or more exactly a päälause) and vaikka en jaksaisi is a lause (or more exactly a sivulause).
