[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish یاپمق (yapmak, “to do, make, arrange”), from Proto-Turkic *yap- (“to make, create, arrange”).[1] Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (yapmāq, “to build”), Old Uyghur [script needed] (yap-, “to make”).
