Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *(g/k)aw (to call) (Schuessler, 2007, STEDT). Compare Kinnauri ku, Anong go, and Burmese ခေါ် (hkau). The extension of the meaning ‘shout, call’ to ‘ask, request’ is parallel to ().
