Etymology 2

From Proto-Vietic *kr-ʔaːk (“crow”), from Proto-Austroasiatic *kʔaːkʔ (“crow; to caw”). Doublet of ác là and bồ các. Sense 3 is probably from the association of the image of crows at dawn with the Sun at dawn.
