Inherited from Proto-Mongolic *mïkan, perhaps related to Proto-Turkic *bɨkɨn (thigh).

Cognate with Kalmyk махн (maxn), Buryat мяхан (mjaxan), Dongxiang migva and perhaps Kazakh мықын (myqyn).
