Cognate with Avestan 𐬫𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬀 (yauua), Sanskrit यव (yava), Ancient Greek ζειᾱ́ (zeiā́, “einkorn wheat”), Irish eorna (“barley”), Lithuanian javaĩ (“grain”). Also compare Java.
