      Unknown. Possibly from Proto-Indo-Iranian [Term?]. Perhaps related to Avestan 𐬎𐬭𐬬𐬀𐬥- (urvan-, soul; immortal part of a human being or an animal) and Classical Persian روان (rawān, soul). Not related to वर्पस् (várpas).[1]
