From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old French eloquent, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin eloquens (“speaking, having the faculty of speech, eloquent”), present participle of eloqui (“to speak out”), from e (“out”) + loqui (“to speak”).
