Cognate with Old Saxon gilōҍian, Middle Low German gelȫven, Middle Dutch ghelōven, Dutch geloven, Old English gelēfan, gelīefan (see also English belive, from Old English belȳfan, belēfan), Gothic 𐌲𐌰𐌻𐌰𐌿𐌱𐌾𐌰𐌽 (galaubjan).
