[edit]Unknown. Related to Ingrian heikko, Kukkuzi heikko and probably Veps heikembāńe (“weaker”) (South Veps), although such a word is barely attested. Compare also dialectal Estonian äigima (“to die down, subside, weaken”), dialectal Võro heik (“vain”).
