Etymology

Entered English around 1530, via (deprecated template usage) [etyl] French, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Late Latin immanēns, present participle of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin immanēre, from im- (in) + manēre (to dwell, remain, stay). Cognate with remain and manor.
