Usage notes

[edit]
  • In standard Tagalog, opo is used as an honorific towards elders, superiors, and even strangers, while oho is a slightly less formal honorific that can be used for intimate elders and superiors. However, the difference between the two has blurred in recent decades. In other dialects, there is no difference between the two at all and can be interchanged with one another.
